About the Track

The way we are doing software development continuously evolves. AI tools have arrived in the industry, sustainability is now a consideration of software development, including sustainability in pace, social and environmental aspects has become more and more important, and developing secure software in a highly distributed world is becoming more and more critical.

What does that mean in educating and training software development in general, and for agile software development in particular?

The Agile in Education and Training track provides a forum for those with a vested interest in agile education and training. We want to share ideas and experiences for translating methods, practices, and theories into training, courses, curricula, and mentoring programs.

We will centre around how we teach agile concepts, and how we can tackle the new challenges that arise – to students in academic learning environments and to practitioners on the ground, and also how we can apply our knowledge of agile and lean in developing these learning experiences.

We are looking for research papers, talks, activities, and workshops on techniques and experiences for teaching and training with a special focus on, but not limited to AI-assisted Agile software development, Agile dev-sec-ops development, sustainable Agile development and experiences with the used toolset and what the future of teaching Agile might look like.

We welcome thoughtful participants interested in teaching, training, and learning. We would like to have a mix of short talks, interactive sessions, and discussions. We want to learn from your experiences and develop new ideas. From university professors to industrial coaches to learning organisations – please propose something to help us learn to teach (and learn) agile concepts better, or just come and add to the conversation.

Submissions

We invite proposals of structured sessions (e.g. short talks, experience reports, tool demos, goldfish bowls), to mix with workshop and discussion sessions. Proposals should address educational challenges in agile that could foster good discussion, such as topics that are hard to teach, techniques and schemes for teaching principles and practices effectively, questions about assessing certain forms of agile learning, learning through online tools, and more.

Proposals will be evaluated based on these criteria:

  • Relevance to educators
  • Relevance to practitioners
  • Likelihood of starting a discussion
  • Being something interesting and new, not something boring and established

We expect the session proposals to contain the following information

  • Type: Academic or Industry
  • Proposed Length of Presentation: 15’ – 30’
  • Abstract: Explain the general topic and highlight the concepts the session will cover.
  • Learning outcomes: 1-3 reasons why a participant should choose this particular presentation and what the lessons learned would be.
  • Outline of presentation or the research paper
  • Presentation style: lecture, interactive, demo
  • Prerequisites required of attendees: e.g. basic knowledge in …, familiarity with …, …
  • Level: introductory, practicing, expert
  • Short biography of the speaker(s)
  • And of course, you can also provide any additional information for the PC that helps decide on your submission.

Research Papers

Those interested in a research paper publication can submit a short paper (max. eight pages). These submissions will be peer-reviewed by at least three peers and must conform to the LNBIP formatting instructions. See the instructions for authors here. After the conference, you will be asked to improve your paper based on feedback from the conference participants and reviewers. The accepted papers will be published as Open Access in the post-conference proceedings by Springer (Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing, LNBIP).

Both session proposals and research papers must be submitted electronically via EasyChair.

Proposals must be submitted electronically via the Agile Alliance submission system by the defined deadline.
