Abstract/Description

Try out mob programming

This session is to allow less technical coaches to try out mob programming for themselves in a safe environment.

Why?

Imagine This: Your siloed software team starts working cross-functionally and collaboratively when all of them are working together.
Team members say our code’ instead of my code’ or their code’.
Imagine further that you, the not-so-technical coach, have guided them through this transformation.
How can you do it? You can facilitate mob programming sessions that can bring the team together.
Yes, even though you don’t code, you can do this! I know, because I did it.

Try it out

In this workshop you will learn how to facilitate a co-located/in person mob programming session as a less technical coach by collaborating with a Tech Lead/Developer as a technical backup to help with technical issues as they arise during the first and second mobbing.
After we review the pre-mobbing checklist, we will dive in and do a live mob programming session and I will facilitate the mobbing session. You can watch or participate as a mobber. You’ll walk out with the confidence you need to help your team to transform to a collaborative team by facilitating mob programming.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Experience a mob programming session
  • How to prepare a mobbing session (with checklist)
  • How to facilitate a mobbing session (with checklist)
  • How to run a Retrospective afterwards
