Playing to our strengths with StrongSuits

In this workshop, we’ll play one of the StrongSuits games called “Your StrongSuit” which will help us to discover and clarify how we prefer to communicate in teams and how cognitive diversity makes teams stronger. After a short introduction, we’ll play a single-player game on our own to discover our communication style. We’ll then get into breakouts to discuss how we might work together if we were a team!

StrongSuits is a people and team development toolset that uses playing cards and games and is based on 4 main insights from modern psychology:

  • People are more effective at work when they play to their strengths (Gallup)
  • Every strength can be overplayed and become a limitation (Daniel Ofman)
  • Cognitive diversity makes teams stronger (Meredith Belbin)
  • People interact and communicate in different ways (Linda Berens)

Workshop Pre-requisites

We’ll be running a single activity for the duration of the session. You’ll get the most out of it if you arrive on time and stay for the whole session. We’ll be using Zoom and Miro for this game. Miro works best on a desktop/laptop browser (rather than a tablet or a mobile). You’ll have the best experience joining from a quiet place where you can have your camera on.
